Monday:
So as bad as Sunday was on the Lake, Monday turned out to be a nice day. We left Traverse City, and had no reservations anywhere. We had a lead on a few stops and felt sure that one of them would pay off. The 1st try was Leland, MI, but we we had been trying to get into there for weeks. That would have been our 1st choice as it was about 50 miles. We eliminated that stop early as we knew we could not get into the marina there. We had 3 possibilities for a stop in Frankfort. The 1st one, a condo complex ended up not working. We thought we were good there but I guess the slip that we were going to use, the owner came back and it was not available. The 2nd, Jacobson's marina said he did not have room as many of the boats did not leave due to the weather. The 3rd, the Municipal Marina, said that they did not take reservations, but there should be room if we call in the morning. We did, and we got a call back after a couple of hours that did not have room either. It was a nice day, so we decided to continue on down the Lake and made reservations to stop in Manistee for 2 days. It was a long day, 116 miles but everything went OK.
Freighter
Lot of sand dunes in MI.
We passed him :)
There a lot of nice Lighthouses along the Lake
Entering Manistee River
Coast Guard boats.
All the towns are very nice with small shops and restaurants. There was a small Save-a-Lot grocery nearby so we walked over to pickup a few supplies. The store literally had nothing on our short list so we bought nothing. We did pick up a couple of items at the Dollar General next door. Our plan was to walk up into town for dinner, but nothing was really grabbing our interest so we decided to just eat on the boat again. It does not seem like it, but we are getting tired of eating out so much, so if there is nothing interesting or really appealing to us we have been skipping the standard burger or bar food. The town did have a nice Riverwalk along the river so we walked it after dinner.
