Tuesday:
After the rough night we had at Grand Haven, we were ready to move on if the Lake was cooperating even a little bit. Wind was around 10mph, so we cast lines and headed out. We had 45 miles to go to get to Sergeants Marina in Saugatuck, MI. It was a little bouncy as we started out.
Tired we both took it easy and turned in early. That did not last long as severe thunderstorms warnings were going off. About 10 o'clock the wind was blowing about 40 to 45 mph, so I went out to put on 2 additional lines as I was worried that we might pull the cleats out from the dock. I made sure that our isenglass was holding as well. After about an hour the storm subsided and we went back to bed. The boat did not rock much as we were much better protected from the Lake.
Wednesday:
After breakfast on the boat, and some engine room checks, and other chores, we showered and called to catch the Harbor Transport to take us to the local Super Valu for some groceries. We never turn down a grocery trip when it is available as we don't know what the next stops will have. Turns out there was no charge to take us to the store. Called again to catch a ride back and only had to pay 1 dollar each. Not a bad deal. It was not a real nice day so we hung out on the boat most of day. We made Skyline 3 ways on the boat for dinner and made plans to move on Thursday. Our original plan was to stay here only 1 day but with the weather, we made the right choice to stay on Wednesday. On Wednesday night we had another thunderstorm move in as well. A light of lighting and wind, but we weathered it OK.
Marcia was able to get on line and reserve us a slip at the West Basin in St. Joseph. We decided to skip South Haven and go to St Joseph as this was our 1st choice anyway. With the wind blowing into the the dock, we ended up with a lot of green algae all around the boat. Good thing I cleaned out all the engine and AC strainers while we were here.
