So let me start with a correction from one of my earlier post from Orange Beach.  As I have been informed, it was not a pelican on the top of our boat, but a heron.  In my defense, Marcia did not proof read that post and I had been drinking heavily.

Linda sent us this picture that she took as we were backing into the slip at Ft. Walton.

So we had fun with Mike and Linda, and headed out on a windy day for Sandestin.  Crossing the bay was a little choppy and we took some spray on the boat.  We arrived at Baytowne Marina around lunch time as it was only a 20 mile run.  After fuel and a pump-out we got settled into our slip.  I did a quick rinse on the boat, showered and then we headed up to walk around Baytowne.  Brought back a lot of memories as we vacationed here with Tony about 6 years ago.  Most everything was the same only with some different names.  We ate lunch at Slick Lips, and I finally got some oysters.  The bloody mary was really good also.  Marcia split her lobster roll with me so with full bellies we walked around.  I did finally give up on trying to located my lost flip flop from our Pittsburgh trip and bought a new pair.  Yes I had a pair on the boat, but want to have two.  Everyone needs a nice pair and a work pair.  Except Mark Kalb who evidently needs 25 pair.  We relaxed on the boat for a bit, and did some cleaning and planning.  We went back to Slick Lips for dinner as the char-grilled oysters were supposed to be excellent, and their gumbo won some contest for the last few years.  Both were very good.

Crossing the bay - nice day, only cool and windy.

I loved seeing this page of the menu. - Marcia - not so much :)

Award winning gumbo.  It was very good, maybe the best so far, and I have been trying a LOT of gumbo.
Baytowne Marina - Must be at a nice marina, as Hatteras and Viking yachts seem to dominate.

Was kind of a rough night sleeping as the wind never did die down.  Had some waves slapping against the boat, and the boat was actually rocking due to the wind.  With us being on central time still and daylight savings, and not sleeping well, we woke up early.  Very windy day as we headed out around 8:00.  The bay was very choppy, 3-4 foot waves.  We tried to get up and run hoping it would be smoother, but with the waves on our front port beam (think 10:00 - 11:00), it was pretty rough.  We got off the bay and entered the Grand Canyon.  No we did not make a wrong turn.  It is a 20 mile cut that connects the GICW between the bays.  We cruised about 55 miles today and made it to Panama City.  The marinas in downtown PC are all closed still as they were wiped out by Hurricane Micheal last year.  We went a few miles past and back up into a lagoon to stay at Treasure Island Marina.  Boat was covered in salt from the spray today.  I did a complete was outside while Marcia did more laundry, cleaned and vacuumed inside.  We cooked up dinner on the boat.  We were both kind of tired of eating out, and nothing close by seemed that appealing anyway.

It has been quite a while, but both Marcia and I are having an AFD (yes Alcohol Free Day) today.  I am also having a cigar free day.  I am trying to remember the last time we had an AFD.  Reviewing with Marcia, it was back when we were at Midway.  A while ago.

For those of you wondering, Cluck Norris is doing fine.  He said that he was chased by a shark today, but I did not believe him.  Who knew chickens could swim.

Lucy is doing fine also.  She did not care too much for the rougher ride the last couple of days, but she made it.  This tends to be one of her more popular hangouts.  Chilling on bed.

Heading out again tomorrow for Apalachicola.  We are now hoping for good weather to be able to do our Gulf Crossing.  Pray for no wind and no waves.  Need to run about 200 miles across the Gulf.  Stay tuned.
