Monday

We left Middle Bass Island on Monday morning with low winds on the protected side of the Island.  Nice view as we were leaving the marina.

As we came around the Island to cross Lake Erie, the wind and waves were a litter higher but the 1-3 foot waves were manageable.  We ran the 30 or so miles and entered the Detroit River.  The river has about a 3 mph current against us so our speed dropped to about 19 mph.  We went past Detroit on the left and Canada on the right and headed into Lake St. Clair.

We arrived at MacRay Harbor and fueled up & got a pump out.  We also picked up our part for the ice maker hoping that will fix our issue.  We got tied up in the slip and Marcia did 3 loads of wash and since our dryer is not working she loaded up the wagon and headed off to use the marina dryers.  I went to work replacing the part on the ice maker.  After a couple of hours she was back but the ice maker was still not working.  After the 5th call to their tech support, I got the ice maker working.  HELL YEAH!  We took it easy and ate dinner on the boat and had a AFD.  Good to recover after the last 5 days.  We did not end up getting the rain they predicted but we did get the wind.

Tuesday
Tuesday morning I had arranged to get an oil change and change all the fuel filters.  Don brought me up the oil filters and I had the fuel filters on board.  The mechanic showed up on time at 9:00 and began to work.  Shortly after, Dave and Val Mamo stopped by to say Hi.  We met them in 2019 on the loop, again in the Bahamas and then again in Florida.  Since this is their home marina, we took them up on their offer to drive us to Kroger.  We had a lot of provisioning to do, so it was nice to catch a ride and be back at a Kroger.  Back at the boat we quickly put the cold stuff away and went for a late lunch with them to Bumpers Landing on the river.  Lunch was good and it was fun catching up with them.  They dropped us back off at the boat and we said goodbye.  Took it easy the rest of the day as we were both tired.

Wednesday
Just a short cruise today across Lake St. Clair and into the St. Claire river to Algonac, MI.  Although not a long cruise, the water was nice and there were a lot of nice homes along the river.

View from our boat of the Marina

We have not been here in about 20 years.  It was windy coming into the marina and getting tied up.  After we took a short walk to West Marine and the Liquor Store.  Still no Blantons.  Marcia did another load of wash and is using the marina dryer now, so I am catching up on the blog.  Two Looper boats did stop by to say hello.  One is just starting their Loop on Friday and the other we had not met before.  There is a nice Tiki Bar and restaurant right next to the boat so we are planning so stop up there later for happy hour.  They have a band playing at 6:00.  Should be an uneventful night, fingers crossed.  We will finish the St. Clair river tomorrow and head into Lake Huron.

I am now officially all caught up on the blog!
