Day Miles: 71

Total Miles:  6480

Travel Days:  127

Total Days:  269

Early start today as the wind and waves were predicted to increase later in the day.  We had a nice cruise with a following sea, running about half and going slow about half.  The wind did kick up a little bit as we entered the marina.  We decided to go ahead and get fuel and then get into our slip.  Two other Looper boats here that we had not met before.  We ate lunch on the boat, showered and then walked up into town.  Not much going on in town.  We did find Pak's Backyard restaurant and bar so decided to do something different and have a drink and some pretzel bites.  As we were there, the crew from O'Tug and Last Laugh joined us.  We sat for awhile with them and then split some chicken wings for Linner.  Term we picked up describing the meal between lunch and dinner.

Early morning departure on Lake Huron - 7:00 am

After dinner we had docktails on the dock.

Saturday

Saturday was pretty much a rain out as they had predicted.  We are glad we changed our plans to spend 2 nights here instead of Lexington as today would not have been a good travel day.  We did some normal boat chores, tracking, engine room check, Marcia did a load of laundry and used the free dryer here.  No, the dryer is not fixed yet, not sure it will be as it might be beyond my level of competence.  We did talk to Jackpot who are about a day ahead of us.  Our plan was to go to Presque Isle which is a long run, about 94 miles.  We may stretch it and go to Roger's City which would be about 112 miles.  Not that much further, but adds about another hour if we are running.  It would be good to catch up to them for a day or two.  Since we already walked the town yesterday, we just cooked up some burgers on the boat for dinner.  Just after dinner Marcia started getting weather alerts on her phone.  The sky turned black and the wind increased.  The tornado sirens started going off and people on the other boats left to go to the concrete shelter.  I went to the bridge to save my isenglass.  Got to it just in time as the snaps on the front windshield blew off.  I was able to unzip the flaps so the wind could blow through.  Marcia outfitted in her rain gear and came up to help.  Was very intense for about 20-30 minutes.  Turns out that 2 tornadoes touched down in town just a few miles from us.  We did also see a water spout that was about 1/2 mile away.  Everything calmed down and after that excitement it turned into a nice evening.  Picture do not do it justice as I could not take pictures during the worst of it.  Waves were crashing over the dock and we are in a protected harbor.

Early night as we have a long run in the morning.
