We did not take a lot of pictures at the aquarium, but I did forget to put in what we took Saturday.
After the Lookout, we were debating whether to hike the 2.5 - 3 miles down the mountain to Ruby falls or call an Uber. We left the park and went into the visitor center to ask the ranger about a trail going down to Ruby Falls. Guess not many people hike this or even ask because he had no idea. We did finally figure a way down utilizing about 3 trails. Since we left the park, we would need to pay $14.00 to get back in. (There was a Ranger at the gate now). I figured it would be about a 2 hour hike as they said it is not an easy trail. We also wanted to take the Ruby Falls tours which was going to be about 1.5 hours plus the wait. So, we decided to Uber for $7.00 and 15 minutes.
We had to wait about 30 minutes to take the 160 foot elevator down into the mountain. We were in a group of about 40 people inside a narrow cavern. It was about a 1/2 mile walk back to Ruby Falls. Was a slow go as about 4 groups passed us on the way out. Lot of kids and seniors in the groups. Ruby Falls is a waterfall inside the cavern. It was actually pretty cool to see. The whole tour took about 1 1/2 hours. Still pretty cool.
After the tour, we Ubered back to the boat. Jim and Joann, who we met at Green Turtle Bay, keep their new Searay docked at the Chattanooga Yacht Club. They texted us in the morning that they would pick us up and then go back to the yacht club and grill out. They picked us up about 6:00 and we went to their harbour and hung out on their boat for awhile. After some appetizers and beers, Jim cooked up some bison burgers, chicken and regular burgers on the grill. We ate and socialized with them until around 10:00. It was great seeing them again, and we are hoping to visit them again in Hilton Head, as Jim has a house there. Jim and Joann, if you are reading this - Thanks again!!!
A picture of Skipper. I only got a picture of 1 of the dogs - Macy.
We decided to stay an extra day in Chattanooga. It was predicted to rain off and on all day on Monday, so figured we would just stay put. It was raining in the morning, but the rest of the day was just cloudy and spitting rain off and on. I walked across the river and got a quality haircut at Great Clips. Haircuts are not that complicated for me anymore. Marcia vacuumed, cleaned and did laundry. I got the buffer out and worked some on the back of the boat, getting the black diesel cleaned off. As you can see from the picture below, the dock cleared out after the weekend. We ended up walking to Scotties on the River for dinner. Yes, we do have to eat sometimes. Gumbo and blackened Mahi PoBoy for me and crab stuffed shrimp for Marcia.
A another boat sent me this picture of us cruising past the other day. This is what 10mph looks like. I know most people from Four Seasons didn't know the boat could go this slow.
We shoved off around 10:00 est. We are right at the time zone border, so going back into cst soon. Tried to take a few more pictures heading down, but we have already been here, so tried not to repeat. Cool morning. I even put on a long sleeve shirt for about the 1st hour.
Aquarium, leaving Chattanooga.
Lookout Mountain. If you zoom in, you can kind of see the hike from the top down to Ruby Falls.Ruby Falls
Think this is a small college on the river.
Just to remind you that we are on the river.
We made it to our anchorage for the night at Cedar Mountain Cove. It was just past Hales Bar where we stayed on the way up. Close to lock for tomorrow morning, so I will call and try to time it right.
Cluck Norris fainted when he found out that we were cooking up Chicken Fried Rice for dinner.
